TFWATH Tsitska Petnat 2021

A TFWATH collaboration with Zurab Gvaladze in Imereti, western Georgia. Zurab is the uncle of Giorgi, Baia and Gvantsa Abuladze, with whom I made my 2021 qvevri Tsolikouri. Zurab makes some of the best petnat in the region. For years he just made it for family and friends, then finally began selling it commercially a few short years ago.

The white grape variety tsitska is high-acid and makes crisply refreshing fizz, though this wine also has texture and richness. This is 100% natural: nothing added, nothing taken away.

In flavour it's similar to a col fondo Prosecco. Crisp and citrusy but also a touch autolytic, with richer fruit and savoury notes. 

12% vol.

Unfined and unfiltered. 75cl. Contains sulphites (but none added).
