Iliana Malihín makes wine and works with loads of growers managing old-vine vineyard parcels around Rethymno on the north coast of Crete. In 2022 they lost 80% of their precious old vines – vines that had been cultivated with care for many decades. But Iliana is fighting back and doing everything she can to bring the region back to life. She seems to be a force of nature type of person. And her wines are unusually good. This liatiko is made from 50-year-old vines and is aged in a combination of oak, concrete and stainless steel for nine months.
